GOTS AND ORGANIC COTTON

The cotton is grown organically, ie no pesticides or other harmful substances are used that harm the environment and the health of the farmers. Instead, natural fertilizers are used. In addition, the cotton is picked by hand. Chemical defoliants to facilitate machine harvesting are not used. According to GOTS, 95% or more of the fibers have to come from certified organic farming so that a T-shirt can be labeled as “organic” + with GOTS-seal.

GOTS AND FURTHER PROCESSING

In the area of ​​knitting, clothing and textile finishing, only certain substances and processes that are as environmentally friendly as possible may be used. According to GOTS, the following must be observed:

  • Printing with water-based paints
  • Bleaching without chlorine, but based on oxygen
  • wastewater treatment
  • Accessories such as buttons are made of natural materials such as peanut, mother of pearl or horn

All suppliers must be GOTS-certified from cultivation to the finished shirt so that the shirts are allowed to bear the GOTS seal. All suppliers Armedangels uses are GOTS certified.

GOTS AND SOCIAL STANDARDS

In addition to the ecology of textiles, the GOTS also includes social standards of the production chain. All these standards are based on the International Labor Organization (ILO) criteria, which include:

  • Payment of minimum wages that comply with legal or industry standards
  • Ensuring health and safety at work
  • Social security / employment contracts
  • No discrimination
  • Prohibition of child labor and forced labor
  • Right to freedom of association and collective bargaining

  • WHY IS ARMEDANGELS GOTS CERTIFIED?

    It was not enough for us to be just certified Fairtrade. We wanted to go one step further. Although we have always made sure that the production is as environmentally friendly as possible. The certification, however, establishes the use of only organic substances and controls them once a year by an independent certification body. In our opinion, the connection between Fairtrade and GOTS is 100% complementary and guarantees that we are fair and eco.
